This course introduces students to communication in interpersonal, small group, and public speaking settings.
Students will learn the basics of effective communication.
Students will have ample opportunity to improve fluency and accuracy in spoken English through role-plays, discussions, and presentations.
Students will be able to build confidence in spoken English and become an effective and fluent speaker.

Detailed class syllabus and schedule will be provided on the first day of class.
Because this course introduces students to proficiency in communication skills, they will spend majority of the time engaged in communication and fluency-building activities. All of the topics they will explore in class revolve around common knowledge and contemporary issues within Japan.
Roleplay (4X5) 20%
Mini Speaking Test (4X2.5) 10%
Mid-term and Final Speaking Test (2X5) 10%

Students are expected to attend 100% of classes. There are activites/tests in each class and failing to participate in the activities will affect their grade. Some activities/tests can be rescheduled for eexcused absencesf for which students must communicate with their teacher prior to the activity/test.
