 This course is aimed at helping students better understand how spoken English is interpreted and students can expect to expand their listening comprehension by focused and concentrated listening exercises.

 The first part of this course will center on real world listening, training the ear toward various accents and dialects of spoken English, and how meaning is transferred in daily conversations among native speakers. The middle part of this course will ask students to listen to passages which describe travel problems, food items and talking about locations. The final section will spend time having students listen to idiomatic expressions.

 Students will use general knowledge and apply speed-listening skills and critical thinking skills to respond to passages of spoken English by a wide range of users. Familiarity with conversational topics in each section will be a value-added benefit to students taking this class.
