 This course will build on the prior semester's coursework and will further expand on quickening students' ability to read and comprehend written material in English. Students can expect to increase the range of reading by both reading at a faster pace and absorbing new information in English.

 The first section of this course will focus on reviewing the first semester speed and gist reading styles before going on to wider net-based readings using topics that focus on thoughtful evaluation of content in the middle section of the course. The final section of this course will have students practice reacting to various topics using and practicing techniques that help them to read quickly while piecing information together comprehensively.

 Reading for speed and content will continue, and more use of the web will be made available over the second semester. Students can expect to learn how to comprehend a large number of different news and media sources, such as online news sites, web-based reading sites aimed at interacting with students while checking their comprehension of what they are reading.
