 This course will assist students to further increase their knowledge and comprehension of written English, while helping build vocabulary for improved reading range. Students can expect to increase the speed of their reading by practicing speed-reading exercises and having their understanding

 Students will be given reading level checks in the first part of this course. Handouts and online surveys along with vocabulary building and word recognition exercises will be used often. The middle section of this course will delve into web-based reading projects and web-related article reading. The final section of this course will require students to choose a project development topic to expand on and practice reading both out load and learning how to read for content and comprehension. Students will be timed for speed and assessed for understanding.

 Students will use general knowledge and apply speed-reading skills and critical thinking
 skills to respond to passages and written text by using teacher and student selected
 readings from a variety of venues. Familiarity with PPT, Web-designs, and online
 navigation will be a value-added benefit to students taking this class.
